I’ve been craving spicy food and broccoli lately, so I thought it would be fun to combine them. This Spicy Raw Broccoli Salad is fresh and delicious, and you can throw it all together in just a few minutes. I usually don’t like raw broccoli, but the marinade made it taste really good!
It’s important to add variety to your diet, both in the types of vegetables you eat, and in the way you prepare them. For example, carrots have the most vitamin C when you eat them raw, but your body can better use the vitamin A if you cook them. Steamed broccoli is better for lowering cholesterol than raw broccoli. Raw broccoli, like raw carrots, however, is higher in vitamin C, and it may also be more beneficial to your digestive system than the cooked kind. Broccoli can help with allergies, it fights cancer, and it is anti-inflammatory. For more information about the health benefits of broccoli, check out this article.

- 2 Cups Broccoli Florets
- 3 Tbsp Red Chili Pepper Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1/2 Tsp Sea Salt
- 2 Cloves Crushed Garlic (use a Garlic Press)
- 1 Tsp Lemon Juice
- 1/4 Cup Raw Walnuts
- Organic Red Pepper Flakes
Combine all of the ingredients, except the broccoli, in a medium sized mixing bowl. Whisk them together until they’re well incorporated. Add the broccoli and stir to coat it with the sauce. Refrigerate, until you’re ready to serve it. It tastes best if you let it marinate for a couple hours. Top with more red pepper flakes, if desired. Enjoy!
