I love to sit down with a glass of peppermint tea at the end of a busy day and watch funny TV shows with my husband! Lately there have been quite a few ideas for drinks infused with ginger and turmeric
floating around Pinterest, so I thought I’d try out my own recipe. Actually, the first place I saw a drink with turmeric and ginger in it was Further Food. Further Food is a website dedicated to helping people find ways to use food as medicine. I highly recommend that you visit their site and sign up for their newsletter! They’re a great resource for those who are either fighting a disease, or simply want to live naturally, eating whole foods. The main base for my drink is tea, not milk, but I did add some coconut cream to make it richer and more dessert-like.
This drink is perfect for the end of the day, because it will help you calm down, both emotionally and physically. Turmeric and ginger are known to be strong anti-inflammatory spices, and the curcumin in the turmeric also helps fight against depression. Ginger and peppermint will both aid in your digestion, and calm your digestive system. Chamomile will calm your nerves, and help prepare you for sleep. I added pepper into the mix, because it helps the turmeric to be more bioavailable. That means your body can actually access the benefits, and the difference with and without pepper is pretty huge. Don’t skip the pepper! This Soothing Tea sounds totally weird, I know, but the result of this mad scientist concoction is a spicy, relaxing, delicious bedtime treat! Before we get to the recipe for the Soothing Tea, I want to invite you to join with others who are making healthy changes. I’d love to walk alongside you in your journey towards wholeness and health!
